1822 The King Island emu of Lutruwita, smallest of all known emus yet still capable of defending itself by kicking. Extinct in Australia in 1805. The last two live specimens were kept in the Jardin des Plantes and one single feather from these two was bestowed to the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.
