A reminder that the winner of the inaugural Dorothy Porter Poetry Prize will be announced this Saturday at a very special event at Gleebooks in Sydney.
The prize was set up this year by Meanjin and co-sponsor Jenny Darling & Associates as a tribute to much-loved Australian poet, Dorothy Porter, and her legacy of work. Judges Andrea Goldsmith and Kristin Henry chose the winner out of all the poems selected for publication in Meanjin throughout 2009. The $1000 cash prize will be presented by Meanjin editor Sophie Cunningham, and Goldsmith as well as friend and poet, Judith Beveridge, will talk about and read from the Porter’s most recent collection, The Bee Hut.
All friends, readers, writers and fans are invited to come along.
