When Herzog rescued Phoenix, an Animated Tale
JA
October 03
When promoting the film My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done?, director Werner Herzog took part in a social media press day, where he fielded various questions thrown at him from the Twittersphere. One such tweet was by fellow director @David_Lynch, who asked, ‘Can you tell the story about saving someone’s life in front of your house?’
The incident to which Lynch was referring was when Herzog apparently rescued Joaquin Phoenix from a car crash near his Hollywood home. The tale, strange enough as it is, has now been turned into a great little animation sequence by Sascha Ciezata, using the audio from the day, below. (via Kottke and First Look Studios).

Jess have you seen “Warner Herzhog eats his own shoe”? It’s a quirky short clip that comes with the Les Blanc documentary on W.H. called “Burden of Dreams” – in it he boils & eats two pairs of leather shoes while talking about the perils of film-making. He’s a great story-teller

No I haven’t – is it on the interwebs anywhere? Sounds great.
