While we're talking about all things Overland, I have an essay in the latest edition. While you can read it, here it would be much more fun to read the actual print edition, which you will get if you subscribe to Overland now. Or, better still, subscribe to us both. Here's a taste of it.
'It was hard, at first, not to treat a trip down the drain – taken with Overland’s editor, Jeff Sparrow – as an elaborate metaphor for the state of journal publishing. But it wasn’t long before we left behind thoughts of the small and arcane world of publishing for a world just as arcane but less familiar and more expansive.'
