The future, brought to you by the past

There’s some very Bradbury-esque about these concept designs/ads. The first lot are from the book Power Styling, a publication produced in the 1960s in which various utility companies were asked by United States Steel to re-invision power stations in a way that was both beautiful and functional. According to Grain Edit, these are most likely by Henry Dreyfuss and Associates.
The second is a collaboration between architect Rudy Hermes and artist Charley Harper for Ford cars, again placing the vehicles amid outlandish, futuristic backdrops. Done circe 1959, via visualingual and but does it float.

Amazing images, Jess. They say alot about how we imagine our way into the future – ie. the future as a style statement.
