Stopped?
June 26
Michael Jackson is dead. I'll just make a fool of myself if I try and describe how much joy this man's music has given me - pretty well since the day I was born. Here is my favourite Michael Jackson song. Ironically (kind of), given all the debates about copyright on this blog, I can't actually embed the video of the clip. So instead, I give you Rockin' Robin.

I remember so clearly being glued to the TV to watch Molly introduce the Thriller video when it was shown for the first time in Australia and how much I was blown away by it, then Billie Jean, Beat It, Bad, Smooth Criminal, Black or White, The Way You Make Me Feel, Remember the Time, Dirty Diana...But what I really appreciate are his slower ballads: Ben, She Is Out of My Life, which I can't listen to without getting instantly weepy. I always associate his music with a time in my life when everything was so simple, so joyful and lonely, so full of uncertainty and promises. We lost MJ years ago (or he got lost), now it's forever.

It's not personal, but it's really fucking me off how many people are going on about his music meant so much to them, marked such moments in their lives and so on and so forth. How come even when the man is in the grave, no-one talks about what we all did / allowed to be done to a beautiful little brown boy to get all that joy.

Maxine, you're right. Well, it's half talked about, but only in a trite way.
