Queenie
May 19
This YouTube from 1930 of Queenie the lady dog being almost-raped by evil dog man, then saved by her doggy friends, has been twittered furiously. I'm posting it here because I found it disturbing in so very many ways. The dressing up of the dogs and forcing them into human postures. The assault scene itself. It's not quite as disturbing as Freaks(1932) but heading in that direction. One thing that struck me though that animal rights have come further than women's rights. You'd never see animals performing like that in films today (well, I don't think you would, I might well need to be corrected) but you would see women being assaulted in most blockbuster films on release.
