Meanjin authors make Best Australian Short Stories 2009!
JA
September 24
Meanjin would like to congratulate authors Georgia Blain and Brenda Walker, whose stories ‘Intelligence Quotient’ (Vol 68/3) and ‘That Vain Word No’ (Vol 66/4-67/1) respectively have been selected for Black Inc.’s Best Australian Short Stories 2009.
The anthology, edited by Delia Falconer, showcases the most outstanding short fiction for the year and we are thrilled (though hardly surprised) to see Blain and Walker included. Previous contributors include David Malouf, Kate Grenville, Nam Le, Frank Moorhouse, Peter Goldsworthy, Cate Kennedy and many others.
The September issue of Meanjin, which features ‘Intelligence Quotient’ is available in bookstores now.
Update: Congratulations are also in order for Michelle Leber, whose poem 'Heat Wave, Melbourne' (which is featured in the current September edition of Meanjin) has also been selected for the Best Australian Poems 2009. Well done to all our wonderful authors!
