Dear Ms Cunningham

I am pleased to inform you that one of our staff members used a copy of your esteemed journal for the high and noble purpose of putting a dying rodent out of its misery. The copy of Meanjin is now back on the coffee table for perusal.

Yours etc.

My point being - who says the book is dead? The book, it makes things dead.
