Resting in a ring
in the rusted wire-netting—
a blue fairy wren.

Thin as wire, the legs
of the fairy wren perching
in the chicken wire.

Surprise cameo—
a circle of wire holding
an opaline wren.

Wishing I could send
my wife that wren in the wire
as a love locket.
